The process of taking an X-ray photograph of the BRAIN after the ?uid in the lateral ventricles of the brain has been replaced by air; in this way any alteration in the outline of the ventricles

(e.g. from pressure by a tumour) can be detected.

n. X-ray examination of the ventricles of the brain or heart after the introduction of a contrast medium. This procedure has been largely made redundant by CT and MRI scanning.
