Siderocyte: From 1 Different Sources


n. a red blood cell in which granules of iron-containing protein (Pappenheimer bodies) can be demonstrated by suitable staining techniques. These granules are normally removed by the spleen and siderocytes are characteristically seen when the spleen is absent.
