Sialolith: From 1 Different Sources


n. a stone (calculus) in a salivary gland or duct, most often the duct of the submandibular gland. The flow of saliva is obstructed, causing swelling and intense pain. Treatment is primarily by surgery to remove the stone or the whole gland but in a few cases *lithotripsy is used.
