n. an abnormal accumulation of fluid in body tissues or cavities. For example, corneal hydrops is the sudden painful accumulation of fluid in the cornea seen in *keratoconus. It results in a sudden reduction of vision. See also hydrops fetalis; Ménière’s disease.
