A term meaning absence of the heartbeat (see cardiac arrest).
Absence of visible contraction of the heart, and consequent circulation of the blood, resulting rapidly in death. This may occur after envenomation.
Arrest of the action of the heart.
n. a condition in which the heart no longer beats, accompanied by the absence of complexes in the *electrocardiogram. The clinical features, causes, and treatment are those of *cardiac arrest.
